Why see James Taylor & Bonnie Raitt?

James & Bonnie

Sweet Baby James continues to conquer the road. The native Bostonian will bring along his all-star band for this series of outdoor concerts, and he'll also be joined by a great guest as his support act - Bonnie Raitt.

The term legend doesn't do James Taylor justice. With over 100 million albums sold worldwide throughout his 50 year plus career, he's written some of the most indelible pop songs of all time, including Fire and Rain and You've Got a Friend. The flame-haired Bonnie Raitt came to prominence in the early 70s around the same time as Taylor, her stunning bluesy guitar work and powerhouse voice immediately marking her out as something special. Her most recent studio effort was 2016's Dig in Depp, featuring the tune 'Gypsy in Me' and a very special cover of INXS's 'Need You Tonight'.

They did their fair share of their hit songs and connected with the audience. All round wonderful evening . ... Read more

BETTER WITH AGE

Bonnie Raitt and James Taylor both put on stellar performances last evening. We've seen Bonnie many times and I believe this was her strongest supporting band. We've seen James Taylor a few times and we enjoyed his different arrangements to some of his best songs. It's the first time we've seen him with a production like this and it was special. He also talked about the background of several songs. Both performers seemed very relaxed, humble, awed by their bands to whom they bestowed immense credit and were not in a hurry. I think that comes with age and survival. On a sad note, we were unfortunate to sit in front of a woman who talked incessantly during songs.. Another patron and I had to ask her to be quite. Is it me or is this becoming more prevalent? I can't imagine paying significant dollars for a seat at a concert, any concert, and thinking you are somehow more entertaining than the performers on stage. What's the matter with these people? ...
